 The story behind this blend

Acacia blend is our love letter to East Africa, the birthplace of our favourite drink, and a part of the world revered by amateurs for the vibrancy and intoxicating flavours of its coffees. We named the blend after the Acacia centre where our roastery is located in Leytonstone. We thought the name captures the essence of what makes African coffees so special to everyone: aromatic, pure and oh so sweet.

To make this delicate blend, we roast a super sweet and silky Rwandan coffee full of berry flavours and a floral and citrusy coffee from southern Ethiopia. We combine them to create a blend that works across many different brewing methods but particularly shines when brewed with a pour-over filter cone.

The Rwandan coffee component is produced by Nkara, a washing station located in a district called Gakenke in the rugged northwest of the country. The station is operated by Musasa Dukunde Kawa, a company operating multiple stations in the area. During the harvest, Nkara collects and process ripe cherries from over 2000 small scale farmers of the region.

The Ethiopian coffee component is produced by a collective of over 300 small scale farmers from the Guji area in the southern part of the country and processed by a local washing station, Hambela Dhekbor. We featured this coffee in August as our Coffee of the month and couldn't resist also including it in the Acacia blend this season.
